Description
This Asbestos Awareness training course will provide students the critical awareness of the risks of asbestos exposure at the work site. This course will cover the OSHA General Industry Asbestos Standard and is intended for those who may be exposed to asbestos at the work site.
The course will cover:
- What asbestos is and how it has historically been used
- Regulations governing asbestos
- Where asbestos is likely to be found in buildings
- Signs of damage and deterioration of possible asbestos-containing materials
- How to avoid exposure
- Proper response to asbestos fiber release episodes
- The risks of asbestos and health effects of asbestos exposure
- Communication & housekeeping requirements
This course is not intended to apply to:
- Construction work
- Ship repairing, ship building or ship breaking employments
- Workers who perform asbestos abatement
- Workers required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) on the job site
